Hi Friends,
I’ve written and rewritten this email about three times…(that’s not an exaggeration)….but this time I’m sure I’ve gotten it right.
I was going to share this clever rant about how I was completely and utterly over 2016.
I even had this really great analogy about how the past few months have been an emotional and spiritual roller coaster ride and how much I hate roller coasters. (Fun fact: I’ve only been on a roller coaster twice in my entire life and I don’t plan on there being a third time, like ever!)
But the more I keep thinking about my year, the more God is changing my perspective.
Looking back, 2016 wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either.
There were some mistakes I could have avoided. There were some missed opportunities and shall we say, faith building moments.
But there were also many moments when I saw God come through for me in unexpected and unimaginable ways.
There were moments I laughed.
And moments I wanted to hide under a rock and cry myself to sleep.
There were moments of great triumph.
And moments I doubted things would get better.
There were moments I felt like I could take on Satan and his entire kingdom.
And moments I felt completely discouraged and defeated.
Perhaps you can relate?
Twenty-sixteen may have been filled with some rough times, but for every challenge I am sure we can find something to be grateful for:
Like the fact that we’re healthy.
And not laying in a hospital bed.
We have a warm place to sleep every night.
And a hot meal to eat every day.
We survived our storms, without loosing our minds.
And most importantly, we’ve lived to see another year!
Yes, if we think about our year from that perspective, 2016 wasn’t so bad after all.
So as we get ready to welcome the new year, let’s take some time out to reflect not just on the difficult times, but let’s intentionally focus on those little moments we often take for granted.
I am truly thankful for your continued support of This Is Her Journey. And I am looking forward to what God has in store for you and I in the coming year.
Have a safe and prosperous New Year!
With love,
Roxanne Morrison
