“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year.
Holiday parties. Family gatherings. Spending time with close friends and loved ones.
And of course, presents!
For many of us Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the giving and receiving of gifts.
But gifting can be tricky.
It takes time, thought and effort to find the perfect gift for everyone on our list.
We try our best to give them something they would love and appreciate.
Some are easy to shop for. Then, there’s that ONE person on our list that makes the process almost impossible. Either they have everything already or you have no clue at all about what they need or would like.
There’s also the issue of budgeting and knowing how much to spend. Or, knowing who to include on your list each year.
Yes, gifting can be tricky!
It can also take away from the real reason for Christmas, the birth of Jesus!
As we give and receive our presents today, let’s not forget the best gift was already given to us, for free.
No other gift can compare to the joy, peace and love we experience from unwrapping the blessings of Jesus Christ:
He is Wonderful. (Psalm 107:15)
A Counsellor who not only listens but guides and protects. (Psalm 32:8)
The mighty God, making every impossibility possible. (Luke 1:37)
The everlasting Father. (Romans 8:15)
The Prince of Peace who calms all our fears and doubts. (Philippians 4:7)
May we all be reminded of that gift today and everyday!
From my heart to yours, Merry Christmas!
