Live Content. Think Content. Be Content.

Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances. I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need.” Philippians 4:11-12 (AMP)

Content. That’s been the word on my heart and my lips for the past week.

You see, scrolling through my social media timeline made me more and more dissatisfied with the progression of my life. But almost immediately the Holy Spirit reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words in Philippians 4:11-12:

“…I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances.

I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need.”

Perhaps you’ve been feeling disturbed or uneasy about your circumstances lately.

Maybe you’ve been wrestling with how things were going (or not going) in your life.

My dear sisters, God wants us to be content. He wants us to be satisfied regardless of the situation.

We shouldn’t compare our journey to another sister’s because the truth is, God has a plan and a way of accomplishing that plan for each and every one of us.

We have to trust that even though His ways may not be our choosing, it will ALWAYS be what’s best for us.

So whenever you…whenever WE get tempted to compare or become uneasy, let’s resolve to simple say, “I am content!”

Replace your negative thoughts by saying “I am content!” That’s what I’ve been doing for the past week.

My head conversations have gone something like this:

ORIGINAL THOUGHT: Wow, she’s really pretty.
REPLACEMENT THOUGHT: I am content!

ORIGINAL THOUGHT: Oh my God, her outfit is nice. I need something like that in my wardrobe.
REPLACEMENT THOUGHT: I am content!

ORIGINAL THOUGHT: Her life looks perfect.
REPLACEMENT THOUGHT: I am content!

ORIGINAL THOUGHT: I wish I was the one getting engaged.
REPLACEMENT THOUGHT: I am content!

This week, whenever you are tempted to compare or complain, speak the word out loud.

Say, “I am content!”

Regain your peace.

Live content. Think content. Be content.

Prayer: Dear God, forgive me for not appreciating all the good things you have already done in my life. Help me to remember your faithfulness and to be completely satisfied and at peace with my life. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
