It’s Thanksgiving Day, and that can only mean one thing. Get ready to have your taste buds salivating all day (and night) as your family and friends share snapshots of their dinner and desserts up and down your news feeds.

There’ll be pictures. Videos. Memes. All showcasing the turkey, trimmings, and treats that will fill homes and stomachs all across America today.

We’ll see and read all about what’s happening in places near and far. It’s part of the delight of living in the age of social media.

But instead of only sharing what’s on our dinner plates, this year, why don’t we share something more meaningful with our networks.

Like specific ways on how God has been good to us.

And how many times in the past year we’ve experienced His goodness with unexpected blessings.

Yes, let’s do as instructed by the prophet Isaiah in our key verse today:

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.” (Isaiah 12-4-5)

Your year may not have been perfect.  Some things may have unfolded the way you least expected.

Yet here you are, still alive. Still able to provide for yourself and your family. Still healthy. Still with a song in your heart and peace in your soul. Still blessed.

Thanksgiving Day is a great time to share the beauty of the Lord with the world, even those in your virtual lives.

So today, as we invite others to explore our culinary creations, let us also proudly proclaim how good our God is.

Let’s push the focus off of us and back on the One who deserves all the praise and the glory.

Let’s spread the message about Jesus and all He has done for us. Let’s tell people all across the country and the nations that God is real. He’s alive. And He’s the real reason why we all can be thankful.

That’s something worth sharing as well!

Dear Lord, help me to keep things in the right perspective today and everyday.  I can get so distracted and put my attention and focus into the wrong things. But in those moments, I pray that your Holy Spirit will help me to remember You Lord is what matters the most. Not popularity. Not fame. Not anything this world can offer. Help me to bring glory to Your Name as I share Your love and goodness to all those around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
