Maintaining Your Salvation When Life Stresses You Out

Have you ever seen the Snickers commercials?  You know the ones from the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign? Well, that’s exactly how I am when life gets stressful and I am feeling completely overwhelmed.

When things in my world get too chaotic, I’m no where near to being a sweetly saved, compassionate, and caring person.

Family, friends, co-workers, even strangers – they all get my I just want to be left alone, passive aggressive cold shoulder.

That is until the Holy Spirit pulls me back from morphing into someone I am not proud of.

The Downright Dreadful and Difficult “S” Word

Wives, obey your own husbands. In doing this, you obey the Lord.  For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church…As the church is to obey Christ, wives are to obey their own husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:22-24 (NLV)

I’ve always been an independent, do things my own way kind of girl.

My family and close friends, they’d probably say I’m stubborn or hardheaded. But I like independent better, don’t you?

It’s a much more pleasant spin on what can be a downright dreadful and difficult topic, submission.

Being the good Christian girl I am, I’ve heard all the scriptures and sermons about submitting many, many times.

But that does nothing to stop the automatic eye rolls or slow the “ain’t nobody going to tell me what to do” chorus that quickly arises in my heart and my head.

The Ultimate Wedding Season Survival Guide

Here comes…the…

Status updates. With her new last name. And those cute custom hashtags dedicated to the newlyweds.

And who can forget the pictures, showcasing her new manicure color and of course, her sparkly new ring.

Yup, here comes wedding season 2017!

For some of us single gals, it can be discouraging scrolling down social media lane during the summer and early Fall months. It’s during this time when weddings and engagements seem to be the only stories featured on our timelines.

Is God Listening?

“But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.” Psalm 66:19-20
‭‭

Ever wonder if God is listening to your prayers? Me too!

Even though I grew up in a Christian home and have been in church for most of my life, there are times when I struggle with doubt:

Is God listening to me?

Will this prayer make a difference?

Does it make sense to pray about this situation?

Will this prayer work coming from me…or should I ask someone more spiritually strong to pray for me, this way God will answer?

But recently I’ve been experiencing God’s answers in the strangest way.

Take A Closer Look

“But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48

I can never polish my nails as nicely as they do at the nail salon.

Maybe it’s because of the awkward angles I have to paint from. Maybe it’s because this is what they do every single day. Or maybe it’s because I’m just too heavy handed when it comes to the applications.

Either way there’s always a big difference when I DIY my nails versus going to get them professionally done.

Don’t get me wrong, from a distance, you can’t really tell the difference.

When I do my own nails, they’re decent enough to get compliments from others. But when I take a close up look, I can always spot the imperfections.

The closer I examine my paint job, the more over the lines, smudging, and uneven polish I see.

But isn’t that like our walk with Christ?
